Make Your Own Kind of Music

May 27, 2010

The world is full of people who want to tell you what to do, what to be, and how to act. But the beauty of living an authentic life comes from “making our own kind of music.”

With a full moon in Sagittarius, we are given an opportunity to cast ahead into the future, looking for a target to aim for. It’s the sign of the seeker, with a special kind of sight that’s sweeping and often prophetic.

It’s also a faithful sign that can’t help but spread sunshine wherever it goes. It’s propelled by a belief that things happen for a reason, and there’s a higher purpose we don’t fully understand. It’s a time to ask for faith if you’re feeling discouraged, and to be open to seeing things in a new way.

Full moons reveal and illuminate. So keep your eye out for synchronicities and signs, and dreams that hint at a pathway to follow.

During a full moon in Sagittarius, we may suddenly connect the dots, and see the “big picture” about a situation in our lives. It’s a powerful time to step into our “bigness” - and “make our own kind of music.”

As American singer, Cass Elliot said so beautifully in her song, Make Your Own Kind of Music — ”make your own special song, even if nobody else sings along.”

Take some time to listen to the lyrics of this powerful song as you dance into the energy of your “bigness” by the light of the full moon.

Becoming More Grounded

May 14, 2010

We’re standing in the energy of a very grounding lunation, with the Sun and Moon in earthy Taurus. For many of us, it’s a matter of slowing down enough to just “be” in our natural state. All kinds of mesmerizers take us out of our bodies and immediate surroundings - television, social networking, cell phones, packed schedules. Of all the energy tools, grounding is without a doubt, the most important one to learn and practice. When we ground, we are more in our body, centered within our own life and connected to the earth in present time.

And when we take time to ground ourselves, we have more awareness of what is going on around us - and we are more attuned to our thoughts and emotions. In order to be totally present in the now moment, we need to be able to relate to it with present time responses, without constant interpretation from our past.

When we are grounded, we feel more powerful and capable. There’s a certain clarity of focus that comes when we are actually in our body and rooted to the earth in the present. Circumstances in our life run smoother because we are able to handle whatever comes our way with confidence and neutrality. We can use our grounding cord to release the thoughts that agitate, disturb and distract us from our life in every moment.

When we are in our body, we own our personal space and are no longer the effect of energy. We can also use our grounding to release the attitudes, values and beliefs of other people from our personal space.

From the time we were born, we’ve been picking up the ideas and viewpoints from the people around us, which may not be in affinity with our own truth or beneficial to our spiritual growth. This type of programming is a learned behavior and can come from our family, society, culture, teachers, friends, media, etc. If an idea feels contrary, negative or unsettling in any way, it needs to be grounded out so it can be looked at with objectivity and neutrality (released of emotional charge). We do not have to live as mere automatons, acting out unconscious tapes, mental pictures and the past in the same old knee-jerk way.

Once we start grounding our energy on a daily basis, we soon discover what a huge difference it makes in our daily lives. And the more we practice grounding, the more we want to stay that way. Being a participant in our own life requires us to be fully present, which means getting grounded. If we do not take conscious creative control in our world, our unconscious thoughts will do the creating for us.

This new moon phase brings us an opportunity to make a fresh start, and bring more of our creaturely self - our body and the five senses - to the present moment.

Make time today to get fully grounded in the present moment. It will support you as you move forward on the initial plans of your next big thing!
